SEVILLE, an introduction,
this warm heart of the south of Spain and capital of Andalusie, has an
extremely rich history of more than 2500 years that still continues
nowadays.
TRADITIONS
Maybe there is
no other people that live and love their traditions as much as the people
of Seville: the
magical Semana Santa
(holy week), the
festive Feria de Abril, the dramatic Flamenco,
or the polemic bullfights (Toros).
MODERN SEVILLE Besides the culture and the
traditions, Seville is also a modern city,
specially after the improvement in infrastructure for the EXPO '92 and the recent
World Championships of Athletics.
One of the symptoms is, that Seville has a growing number of public
Internet places.
NIGHTLIFE
The "good life" is another of the traditions that the Sevillians
like to maintain, as you understand from the many restaurants,
bars and terraces, that guarantee an entertaining and
thrilling nightlife.
Seville is the city with one of the highest concentrations of bars in
Spain, so
most probably in Europe as well...
PROFESSIONAL TOURISM
The growing tourism keeps the Sevillians keen on continuous maintenance and
improvement. In specific for the upcoming professional tourism: congresses,
conventions and incentives.
The quality of lodging and services are improving and in the province of
Seville, the
old countryhouses (Cortijos, Haciendas, Fincas) are being restored in their old
glory.
For the organization of group or business activities, lunches or dinners, there are
specialized travel agencies, who take care of everything from transport
and lodging, to locations, catering
and activities.
ACTIVITIES
The city of Seville itself offers many possibilities:
You can enjoy spectacular flamenco shows, and concerts on streets, in bars or in
the Auditorium. Isla Mágica is the pleasure and adventure park of Seville. For some
easier activities you can choose between going to the theater, visit museums, the roman
ruins of Itálica, or have a walk through the beautiful María Luisa park. Even a simple
sightseeing route through the city is enchanting.
You can also combine the fun and the useful, and enroll in a course of
Spanish.
SURROUNDING
Lovers of nature and pitoresque environments will be impressed by a visit to
the neighbour village of Carmona or a little bit further away, the lowlands of Cazalla,
Aracena (with a very famous cave) in the north, Grazalema and Ronda (also know for the
"white villages") in the south and off course the national reserve of parque
nacional de Doñana.
For lovers of golf the surrounding of Seville has a lot to offer. Andalusie has the
highest concentration of golf lots in the world.
The beaches closest to Seville are those of the province of Huelva (Matalascañas,
Mazagón, Punta Umbría) and Cádiz (Chipiona, Puerto de Santa María,
Conil, los Caños
de Meca) which has also a beautiful environment (Jeréz de la Frontera,
Vejer).
