Osuna

Declared a Site of Historical and Artistic Interest, Osuna boasts one of the richest heritages in the whole of the Sevillian Campińa.

Turdetans were the first to leave examples of their culture, like the impressive Toro de Osuna and Relieves de Osuna, which are on display in the Louvre Museum, the National Museum in Madrid and the town“s Archaelogical Museum.

Its Roman heritage comprises the Theatre and the Necropolis hipogea.

Other important monuments are the University, the Convento de San Pedro Church, the Colegiata and the Castle. Osuna is full of narrow side streets bursting with temples and palaces like that of the Marqués de la Gomera, which transform into a magical backdrop over Easter.

Nature

Reservoir of the Corbones River in Osuna, province of Seville

A large part of its land is accounted for by its protected natural spaces and riches. It is an ideal setting for nature lovers to enjoy such activities as hiking, carp fishing in the Pantano del Rķo Corbones, one of the few navigable marshes in the province of Seville, or long horse ride.

To the North we have the Lagunas de Osuna, which are visited every year by different species of bird like flamingos, geese, heron, and the now virtually extinct white-headed duck. It is undoubtedly a birdwatchers paradise.

The Rķo Blanco Salinoso lies to the Southwest and is a sanctuary for reptiles and birds of prey in serious danger of extinction.
