Located in the Ebro Valley, Zaragoza is the capital of the Kingdom of Aragón. 24 hours in Zaragoza10:00 We begin our travels of Zaragoza with the Cathedral of San Salvador where we can admire the beauty and harmony of architecture styles. We highlight the Romanesque apse, the Gothic altar, the ‘Parroquieta’— the exterior wall combining Moorish and Gothic forms, the elegant Baroque steeple and the Neoclassic facade. Through the sacristy we will tour the Museum of Tapestries, one the best in the world. 11.30 h- Our following stop is the Basilica of Pilar, with a tower from which we can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Once inside the Basilica we can admire the magnificent Regina Martirum dome, the work of the famous painter, Francisco Goya. Later we can enter the Pilarista Museum and journey through the famous collection of cloaks and jewels donated to the Virgin of Pilar from the 16th century to today. On the way out we walk through the Plaza de las Catedrales. Bordering this plaza we find ‘La Lonja’, a splendid building of the 16th century now converted to an exposition area and the City Hall. 13.00 h- Our travels will then take us to the Roman Theatre Museum of Caesaragusta, which reveals to us one of the best preserved theatres of ancient Spain. 16.00 h- In the Primo de Rivera Park we can rent bicycles to leisurely pedal through this charming park. Enjoy the Corner of Goya or any other beautiful area of this park. 17.30 h- From the Islamic era we admire the Aljafería Palace, one of the most beautiful buildings constructed during the Taifas Kingdoms. In this palace is found the Trobadour Tower where the famous Verdi opera took place. It is also possible to visit the dependences of the Aragonese Kings and the Catholic Monarchs. 19.00 h- Our walk concludes by strolling to the Patio of the Infant, an extraordinary Aragonese Renaissance patio.
