Almuñécar stretches up to 19km and is divided into 26 beaches. It has some charming coves of which some are difficult to access. The description that best represents this area is continuation. Here is a list of beaches from West to East.
Bucear en la provincia de Granada
Naturista de Cantarrijan
This beach is situated at the most western point of Almuñécar and has sand of all types.
Four kilometres in length, this is one of the most picturesque bays in the south of spain. It is protected at each side by the La Punta de la Mona and the Cerro Gordo and is known for the recent development of watersports such as scuba diving. The sand is quite coarse.
Playa de las Berengueles
Some of the most attractive beaches can be found in this sporting area and is a must for divers. Different parts of the beach have different types of sand.
Playa del Muerto
A beautiful spot with a charming cove which can be reached via the sea or through the rocks, with coarse, light coloured sand.
Playa de Cotobro
An elegant bay with light coloured sand to the west of Almuñécar, with a good range of restaurants and bars.
Playa de San Cristóbal
One of the main beaches to the west of Almuñécar with a large number of hotels and restaurants, which has made this a thriving centre. Light coloured coarse sand.
Playa Puerto del Mar
Without a doubt this is one of the busiest beaches in the centre of Almuñécar. It is close to the commercial centre and at the heart of the nightlife. Dark, coarse sand.
Playa de Velilla
Another one of the main beaches in Almuñécar and it is perhaps one of the longest. It is protected from the western wind and is busiest in the summer months. The sand is quite dark and coarse.
Playa de el Tesorillo
To the east of Almuñécar is one of the most beautiful beaches of the area. It is surrounded by rocks and is popular with young people. It also has one of the oldest Arabic watch towers and the beach has fine light coloured sand.
Playa de Pozuelo
This beach is to the east of Almuñécar and continues on from the Tesorillo and Velilla beaches. The shallow waters are ideal for children.
This is a very attractive beach because of its natural surroundings. The sand is fine and again the shallow waters make this an ideal beach for children.
Playa de Cabria
A charming and peaceful cove with a mix of fine and coarse sand.
This is a charming cove, accessible via sea or rocks from the Playa de Cabria. It has a mixture of fine and coarse sand and its shallow waters make it ideal for children.
Playa de Barranco de Enmedio
This last cove in Almuñécar is quiet and welcoming. Access is by road.
