Beaches of Rota - introduction Rota is surrounded by 16 kilometres of beaches, comprising the beaches of la Costilla, la Rompidillo, Virgen del Mar, El Chorrillo, Punta Candor and la Ballena. These beaches are circled by a modern promenade. In Costa Ballena, which was created with the intention of promoting tourism in Rota still further, a virtually new town has been created for the inhabitants of Rota to enjoy their beaches. It also has an enormous amount of facilities such as golf courses, shopping centres, recreational areas and there are also a large number of hotels which can house approximately 20000 people in their accomodation. Rota, apart from its magnificent facilities, also has Los Corrales, small parcels in the sea formed upon perfectly mounted stones which were inherited from the Arabs. Fish would find themselves trapped inside the stone parcels at low tide, allowing the fishermen to catch the fish with relative ease. Every beach in Rota has a full range of facilites, having specialised canters of water sports at their disposal. |

Beaches in Rota:Ballena Beach This is a lengthy sandy beach which has at its disposal a great deal of facilities and services such as all types of rental from hammocks to beach umbrellas and also boat trips.Aguadulce/Peginas Beach This is an isolated beach with low usage and a total absence of facilities and services for public use.Punta Candor Beach This is a large beach of golden sands, slightly wild but well cared for, which is one and a half kilometres long and is surrounded by natural vegetation along its entire length.Piedras Gordas Beach This is an extensive sandy beach, to a certain extent slightly wild, from where it is possible to see Rota Dune System and the Coastal Pine Forest, both protected by the Regional Government of Andalucia. These, in addition to the sea fishing corrals, have been declared Natural Monuments.La Costilla Beach La Costilla beach is possibly the most crowded beach in Rota as it is in the same part of town as the centre and has all the necessary services. El Rompidillo Beach This is an urban beach situated between the Port of Rota and the Military Port where a strong wind blows, resulting in a very interesting location for fans of windsurfing and sailing. |
