Costa del SOL introduction
The Costa del Sol consists of a lot of former fishermans villages, most to the west of Malaga City, that once discovered by mass-tourism in the late sixties, have grown exponentially and clustered to one of Spain's biggest holiday resorts.
Leisure and nightlife
At the Costa del SOL you find the biggest offer in holiday activities in the whole of Europe with theme and water parks, casinos, golfcourses, and the harbour of Puerto Banus at Marbella. The many bars, terraces and discoteques all along the coastline are a guarantee for a sparkling nightlife.
Malaga and east to Malaga

The beaches in the province of Málaga
The towns, from west to east on the Costa de la Luz in the province of Malaga are: Manilva - Estepona - San Pedro - Marbella - Mijas - Fuengirola - Benalmadena - Torremolinos - Malaga city - Velez Malaga - Torrox and Nerja
Benalmadena in the Province of Málaga, is situated between Torremolinos and Malaga itself and it is one of the most important centres of the Costa del Sol, reaching a population of 60000 at the height of summer... Its priveleged location between the scenery of the Nature Park of Sierra Bemeja and 21 kilometres of coast make Estepona an important holiday destination. It also has, outside of the location itself, a range of special leisure attractions such as the nature reserve of Selwo, the equestrian school of “Costa del Sol”, the congress centre and the leisure harbour... Fuengirola sits on a thin strip of coastline 8 kilometres long which has some of the best beaches of the Costa del Sol: Los Boliches, Fuengirola, La Campana, Torreblanca, Las Gaviotas...well tended beaches surrounded by a large and busy promenade where residential complexes, hotels, restaurants and other services which enable you to enjoy the sun and the sea in comfort... Manilva is surrounded by a sea of vineyards. It is 2 kilometres from the sea. Among its monuments, special mention should be made of Duquesa Castle, built to protect the coast from raids by pirates, and the 18th century Santa Ana Church... Marbella, which is 57 kilometres away from the capital Malaga, is a marvellous city situated in the heart of the Costa del Sol. You will find it to be a cosmopolitan enclave, the city is renowned for offering its thousands of visitors who come here no end of possibilities for enjoying their free time: beaches, numerous golf courses, 4 leisure harbours and unbeatable natural surroundings with luxury hotels, restaurants of all types and an intense nightlife... Mijas, a tourist town at the foot of the hills of the same name, possesses typically Andalusian houses. Its traditional status as a mountain village has been combined harmoniously with a major tourist complex located in the coastal enclave of La Cala, where there are 12 kilometres of beaches... Torremolinos, located just 12 kilometres from the provincial capital Malaga, in the heart of the Costa del Sol, has a long and varied history, as attested by the numerous Phoenician, Greek, Roman and Arab vestiges found in the area... |
