This restored rural house is over 300 years old and is situated in the heart of nature, surrounded by the River Genil and the mountains, on the border of the municipalities of Palenciana and Benamejí, to the south of the Subbética Mountains, 45 minutes from the Costa del Sol, 90 minutes from Cordoba, 90 minutes from Granada and 2 hours from Seville. It is in the geographical centre of Andalusia, accessed from Palenciana (Cordoba), 1.5 km from the centre of the village.
Since times gone by, this house and land have been known as Huerta del Marqués, due to its links with the Marquisate and Lord of Benamejí, to which both villages belonged (Benamejí and Palenciana). It was an obliged route for people, livestock and goods, as it possessed a large boat to cover the crossing of the River Genil, which is very wide in this stretch and separates the two villages. This is where it gets its name "La Barca" (or Boat), hence losing its historical name.
The house has 4 rooms, three of them double and one quadruple. Therefore, it can sleep 10 people and up to a maximum of 12 with the extra beds.
